Nothing is better then saving some Bucks but still keeping the cool features of mobile SMS. Google Voice is the hot topic around VoIP companies and many consumers. I don’t text that much usually people text me if they can’t get hold of me etc. So seeing a $.40 per message is not a big thing but it can add up, plus I started to give my Google voice number to people, but i didn’t enabled the feature to forward text messages to my phone(I don’t want to pay for SMS). So looking around in the settings of my Google Voice Account I found out that they have this really cool feature. SMS to your Gmail account, this is how it works

1. You need to sign up for Google Voice (right now it is available only by getting an invite)

a. Google Voice invitation request

2. Once Logged into your account go to
a. Settings -> Voicemail & SMS (Tab)
b. Place a Check mark on SMS Forwarding (Make sure to save changes)

Now whenever someone sends you a SMS message to your Google Voice Phone number, you will get an email to your Gmail account.

The best part about Google Voice SMS Forwarding is that once you got the SMS Text as email you reply to the email and you send a SMS message to the sender.  This is a great feature for those who are using Google Voice and Pay only for Internet on their cell phone but don’t want to pay for texting.

This is a free way of getting SMS Messages to a phone that doesn’t have a Google Voice Application, but has email client and internet connection (Only feature it is lucking is that you can’t send new SMS Message from your email but only reply to a received SMS message).

I have just Virtualized a Server and I when I tried to assign the same IP Address it had when it was a Physical machine I get an Error:

The IP address XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX you have entered for this network adapter is already assigned to another adapter Name of adapter. Name of adapter is hidden from the network and Dial-up Connections folder because it is not physically in the computer or is a legacy adapter that is not working. If the same address is assigned to both adapters and they become active, only one of them will use this address. This may result in incorrect system configuration. Do you want to enter a different IP address for this adapter in the list of IP addresses in the advanced dialog box?

Doing some google search I get results:

The problem that I had is that when I go to View and click Show Hidden Devices I can see the Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Network Connection but when I try to uninstall it I get Error Message:

Failed to uninstall the device. The device may be required to boot up the computer.

Well I can’t Uninstall network adapter and I can’t assign the IP Address to the VMware Accelerated AMD PCNet Adapter. Even when I disable the Driver from the Physical NIC (Intel® PRO/1000) I still can’t assign IP Address the the VMware Network Adapter.

This is what I had to do in order to remove the Physical Network Card from the Virtual Machine and I was able to Assign the IP address with out any problems.

1. Run > regedit

2. File > Export - Do a backup of your Registrty Settings.Will have to delete Registriy settings of the Intel Network Adpater

3. Ctrl+F or Edit > Find - Search for you Network Adpater Name in my case I did a search for “1000 MT” it is unique I would not do a search for just Intel because there is of other Interl componets.

4. If you find the Network Adpter Name with other adapters delete just the key with “Your adpter’s name in the Description”

Sample:

I will delete now only the key, but the sub key. It might give you an error so inorder for you to delete it.

Right Click on the Sub-Key in my case “0007″ > Permissions.

Under Group or user names: Select Everyone

Uder Permissions for Everone mark Full Control Ceck Box > Hit Ok

Now you will delete the regestry Sub-key with out any problems.

6. Hit F3 Again and process the same steps from Step 4 to Delete All the Keys and Sub-Keys that are assisiated with your network interface configurations.

7. Once you have your network adpater registry settings reboot the system.

8. Once the system has been rebooted Check Device Manager if the network adapter that you were deleting is there. (Make sure to go to View and click Show Hidden Devices) If the interface that delete from registries is not in Device Manger.

9. Go to Network Connections and Assign the IP Address to the VMware Adapter. You should not get any errors and your system should be on the network.

Microsoft has hidden and moved locations of some settings configurations, since Internet Explorer 6. I know it take a little of digging to and you will find it. But for people who don’t want to send time but need it to be done, I have this Step by step tutorial on how to Delete not only Temporary Internet Files, but Cookies, Internet Explorer History, Form Data, the important one Delete Save Passwords and the last InPrivate Filtering Data from Internet Explorer 7 and Internet Explorer 8.

Follow the step by step tutorial below.

I just upgraded my Virtual Center to vCenter 4 and I am using vSphere to connect to the vCenter. Everything looks good but when I go to check Performance > Overview I get Error Message

“Perf Charts service experienced and internal error.”
Message: Report application initialization is not completed successfully. Retry in 60 seconds.

Quick fix that worked for me.
1 . Close all sessions of vSphere Client.
2. Go Start > Administrative Tools > Services
3. Find VMware VirtualCenter Management Webservices
a. Right Click Stop (Don’t do a restart, wait for the service to stop)
b. Right Click Start (This will stop and start the Tomcat Server)
4. Don’t close Services.mmc but find a service SQL Server Browser
a. Right Click > Properties
b. Change Startup Type: Automatic
c. OK
d. Right Click and Start the Service
5. Login into vCenter and Look at Performance > Overview you should see Nice Graphs of CPU, Memory, Disk. You have options to pick between History Graphs and Real-time Graphs.

Personally I like a hands on experience to configure, fix, setup etc, but if it is not available i prefer screen-shots. I understnad that there are all lot of people like me so let’s jump to the wireless setup.

1. Make sure your wireless is turned on

2. Right Click on Wireless Network Connection -> Left Click View Available Wireless Networks

3. OFCU Wireless is not visible under Choose a wireless network.

• Under Related Tasks Click Change advanced settings

4. Wireless Network Connection Properties will open,

• Go to Wireless Networks Tab
• Under Preferred networks click Add

5. Enter Following Information

- Network name (SSID) : YOUR-HIDDEN-NETWORK-NAME (Case Sensitive)

- Network Authentication: WPA2-PSK (Must be WPA2 not WPA)

- Data Encryption: TKIP

- Network key: (Your Wireless Network Password)

If under Network Authentication you don’t have WPA2-PSK your systems will need to install Windows XP (KB893357) Update.

You will need to restart you computer after the Update for WPA2 to be enabled.

6. Once you have Entered Correct Information

• Click Ok to Close Wireless Network Properties
• Click Ok to Close Wireless Network Connection Properties

7. Your Computer Should Get Automatically connected to YOUR-HIDDEN-NETWORK-NAME

About a week ago I was thinking how hard would it be to add my location to Google Maps and I was asking myself why Google is not adding it to Google map. Most phones that have GPS and Google Maps installed are able to use my location feature on their phone.

Well Google is not sleeping. Yesterday I was looking for directions and I have notice a new button on Google Maps I clicked on to see what it does and it showed my location on the Google map. Finally they have added the feature to Google maps.

Next I think they should make it available to tie my location on Google Maps to Google Latitude this way people can update their location without their phone.
Good Job Google, you always surprise me with the updates to your products.

Windows 98 Second Edition

Just recently I faced with the problem or printing from Windows 98 to a network printer. At first I thought not a problem because it has the capability to print to a network printer.

Go to Start -> Settings -> Printers

Right click on the printer properties

Details  -> Add Port -> Other -> SC-Print2000 Port ->OK

It will lunch Wizard to Add SC-Print2000 Port

Selected Print by using LPR (Line Printer Remote) -Next
IP address or host name: Text Box
Entered IP address of the Network Printer
Port name of the print Server
IP (AR-NC5J)
-Next

Destination print port name: Leave to default

Then Hit Finish and the Printer IP Address: IP should show up under Print to the Following port drop down.
Hit OK

Live Messenger

I have been using MSN Live Messenger for a while until I started to run into Error Code Messages. I was getting error message Error Code: 80191002
Double checked my email address and password, when I tried again I still was getting Error Code: 80191002 message.

FIX Error Code 80191002: To get the error resolved follow the steps below. (I am running Windows Vista Home Premium, but following same steps should get those errors resolved in Windows XP)

1. First go to Start->Control Panel -> Programs and Features

2. In the search box type Live

or look for Windows Live Essentials and double click to get the Uninstall or repair your Windows Live programs Wizard.

Uninstall or repair your Windows Live programs

(Before you click continue make sure to close msn messenger)

<4. Once the repair process is done You must restart your computer. If you will not restart your computer and will try to login you will get Error 81000306.

Once you will restart your computer you should not long have Error Code 80191002 when trying to sign in to MSN Live Messenger. By following the steps above you might be able to fix other Error Code 801xxxxx. Also you might be able to lunch the repair process by downloading free windows live messenger and lunching the install.

Nokia N900 Maemo

Nokia has been trying to produce a Touch phone that will satisfy everybody but it looks like not everybody is impressed with the touch capability of the N97 and 5800 Express Edition. Will the N900 have the touch screen everybody is waiting for? I can give credit apple for having a really nice touch screen.
